Here is a link to a powerful story about Chen Yunlian, a retiree from China who runs a shelter for homeless dogs and cats.
As a member of the Hong Kong SPCA she heard about a pair of dogs who helped save a woman after the recent major earthquake in the province of Chengdu. The story goes that these dogs stayed by a buried woman, licked her lips when she was in need of water … and ultimately alerted rescuers to her presence when they eventually arrived on the scene.
Unfortunately, in order to prevent the spread of disease in China, authorities are euthanizing dogs and cats. Fear was that these heroes had been lost.
